Piracy and Android
I recently read this article: http://www.altdevblogaday.com/2013/04/11/android-piracy-still-sucks/
It highlights a specific experiment where a company decided to test the results of releasing a “lite” version of their app for free, and a paid $1 version. It would seem only roughly 5-10% of people who were using the $1 app had actually paid for it. It also touches on the many techniques used to battle piracy, but they are all at a cost and can severely affect paying costumers as a result.
I can agree most with the last paragraph where the author writes about how simply ignoring piracy can sometimes be more beneficial than wasting time on fighting it. While people using your app may not be paying for it, they are still spreading the word about it, which may lead to potential purchases.
